It is the most common file problem we see: a growing business whose only logo file is a small, blurry JPG. Understanding the difference between vector and raster saves you money and embarrassment.
Pixels vs paths
Raster files (JPG, PNG) are made of a fixed grid of pixels — enlarge them and they blur. Vector files (AI, EPS, SVG) are made of mathematical paths that stay razor-sharp at any size, from a favicon to a building sign.
What print-ready means
Print needs vectors, CMYK or Pantone colour, correct bleed and outlined fonts. Handing a printer a screen-resolution PNG is the fastest route to a muddy, off-colour result.
Future-proof your files
Always keep your logo vector master. If you have lost it, it can be hand-redrawn — never auto-traced — back into clean, editable artwork.
Own your logo as vectors. It is the difference between a brand that scales and one that breaks.
